on Vesak Day May 8, 2011 at Lotus Pond Temple

Dear Friends,

We would like to invite our friends and practitioners to come join a precious opportunity to celebrate the Buddha's Birthday guided by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and the monastic of Plum Village at Lotus Pond Temple on Sunday the 19th of May.  Vesak is the most important day in the Buddhist calendar and is celebrated by Buddhists worldwide.  The day commemorates the birth, the enlightenment and the death of Buddha.  It is a day of great joy, hope, peace, and reflection.  We hope you can free yourself to participate in this rare opportunity to not only honor the life of the Buddha but to practice the Buddha's teaching with a living Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in the beautiful setting of Lantau island.

The schedule of the day is as follow:

9:00     Walking Meditation

10:30   Dharma Talk by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh

11:45   Vesak Ceremony & bathing the Baby Buddha

13:30   Picnic Lunch

15:00  Total Relaxation and Questions & Answers with Sr. True Emptiness

16:45  Farewell

Traffic to Ngong Ping is very busy on Sundays and on Vesak day. We are arranging special transportation for the event. There will be ten 47-seat buses located  at the designated Public Transportation Bus Terminal at Tung Chung.  We have two departure time options: 5 buses at 7:45am and 5 buses at 8:00am. You can chose which bus time to take up to Ngong Ping Village. Once you have chosen a time, we ask that you keep according to the bus time on your ticket. All buses will leave from Ngong Ping Bus Terminal at 5:00pm to return to Tung Chung.

Please print out your confirmation number as your ticket to get on the bus. If you miss your designated bus time, we cannot guarantee you a spot on the next bus.  You may need to take the public transportation.  There will be volunteer staff wearing Orange Vest to guide you from the MTR station to the proper bus on the morning of the 19th of May.

Lunch will be provided. The fee for the day is HKD150 for adults, and HKD100 for children below 12.  Please help us by bringing your own bowl and eating utensil.  We would like to protect the planet and not use plastic and create too much trash.  Thanks.
