Dear friends,

We are happy to invite you to join us for the regular quarterly retreat jointly organized by Plum Village Hong Kong and Hong Kong University Centre of Buddhist Studies Alumni Association. The retreat will be conducted by the monks and nuns of Plum Village Hong Kong.

In November of 2010, we had the opportunities to attend retreats and days of mindfulness led by Master Thích Nhất Hạnh and the International Plum Village Monastic Sangha, with the theme “Happiness is Here and Now”. For the New Year 2011, Thay has suggested we continue the practice of true love, by listening to each other and being there for each other.

In this retreat, we will have chance to deepen our practice in a tranquil environment.  We will be surrounded by beautiful and serene nature and have the company of many fellow practitioners like ourselves, who have made big efforts to slow down our busy life for two days in order to look at the state of our happiness.  We will practice mindful breathing, sitting, walking, eating, talking ... in the here and now.  We will really take time to do our daily activities without hurry and with joy, being aware of what is happening inside and around us, being aware that we are alive.

We practice true love by offering our presence to our loved ones, by listening deeply to ourselves and to others, and by truly being there for ourselves and for others. We will learn the four elements of true love: compassion, loving kindness, joy and equanimity and the five mantras which help us to really be there for our loved ones.

The tentative program for the retreat is as follows:

Accommodation and cost: The Kadoorie Institute - Shek Kong Centre is situated on 11 hectares of land near Shek Kong, Yuen Long in the New Territories. The cost for rooms and board, facilities and other expenses per person is as follows (in HK Dollars):

How to register: Registration is available online at Plum Village Hong Kong Website, http://www.pvfhk.org

on a first-come-first-served basis. There will be a children program. Young people aged six and above can attend retreats with their parents. Registrations are not final until we receive your payment. Please make payment within one week after you register. If payment is not received within one week, we will put your registration on the waiting list. For means of payment, please refer to the online registration webpage.

A confirmation page will be sent to your email address. Please print out the confirmation page  (or confirmation e-mail) and send it along with a check payable to The Plum Village Foundation Hong Kong Limited for the amount of your accommodation. For group registration, you can pay with one check. But please send in the confirmation pages for all persons.
