Many unpleasant things happen in our lives: a broken marriage, a failed university entrance exam, the passing away of a love one. The current financial crisis has wiped out the savings and ruined the financial planning for old ages of many people. Many of us are affected by it. Worries of losing jobs, homes, living environment - where we are so accustomed to - create stress and tensions in us, making our lives unhappy. We need to stay calm in order to ride over this financial storm. Look around, our family members are still around with us. They are there for us, sharing our concerns. Our friends and colleagues are also there for us, bearing the difficulties with us. We still have the chance to get up every morning, starting a new day, and are ready to deal with life, no matter how difficult it is.
In this public talk, Ven. Thich Chan Phap Kham will share the practice of mindful breathing as a way to embrace our difficulties. Going back to our mindful breaths calm our body and mind, help us become more stable. We will look into conditions for happiness in our lives, and how to realize them, even in turbulent times. Being still and tranquil help us deal with the ups and downs of life more effectively.
