Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, Hong Kong
July 26, 2020
Dear friends,
Greetings from the Plum Village monastics at the Asian Institute of Applied Buddhism (AIAB) in Ngong Ping, Hong Kong. We are in the middle of a 3-month rain retreat May 31 - August 30, 2020. We hope that you and your loved ones are well and safe in this difficult Covid-19 time.
In the beginning of June, we hoped that the conditions would get better and we would be able to welcome you to the practice at the monastery. However, the Covid-19 conditions are getting worse and further social distancing and preventive steps are needed for some time to prevent the virus from spreading, the prospect of having in-person practice at the monastery is very small at this time. As a way to keep the practice going, we would like to invite you to join us for two hours of online mindfulness and dharma practices on Sunday morning from 10:00 – 12:00 noon. The online practice will be offered once every two weeks.
The session will be conducted in English with sequential translation into Cantonese.
A sample schedule is as below:
10:00: Sitting meditation
10:20 Singing meditation
10:30 Dharma talk
11:15 Questions and answers
11:30 In-door walking meditation or 10 mindful movement
11:45 Total relaxation
12:00 Farewell
For the month of August, we have the two online sessions on August 2 and August 16, 2020. Please visit our website pvfhk.org for the updated schedule.
The online session will be streamed via YouTube. Please follow the link below for the August 16 session
We hope to see you in the online session.
Peace is every breath,
The monks and nuns of AIAB
